On Saturday, October 10th, 1868, of consumption, William Powers aged 38 years. Mr. Powers was born in Montgomery county, and has lived in this city all his. life with the exception of a few years he lived in Ladoga. He was a citizen well beloved by all who knew him. and has left a large circle of acquaintance and friends to mourn his departure. In all the relations of life—-in business-in Church or in the family circle he was the same, kind patient and forbearing Christian. He had been a member of the Christian Church for about eleven years, during which time he had been a faithful follower of Him who doeth all things well. In the death of Mr. Powers the country has lost an honorable upright citizen, the Church a devoted and worthy member, and a bereaved family, a loving husband and a kind and affectionate gather. He died as a true Christian dies. Calling his family about him had bade them one by one farewell, saying to them that he was ready to die- that he expected soon to meet his Father in heaven. May the Giver of all good be with the bereaved family in their loss of one they loved so dearly. He was buried on Monday afternoon with the honors of Odd Fellowship, of which Order he was a beloved member. He was conscious during all the last hours of his illness.
